So back in 2005, a travel company came up with a marketing idea to get people to buy vacation packages and that idea was Blue Monday – The most depressing day of the year. The thought would get people to cheer themselves up with a holiday!
The funny thing is is that their is an actual equation to back the day up which mixes credit card debt (from Christmas) with colder weather, shorter days in terms of sunshine among other things.
An actual equation was made by tutor at Cardiff University or so the story goes….
The equation is below which i took directly from the wikipedia website (click here to see their page)
where Tt = travel time; D = delays; C = time spent on cultural activities; R = time spent relaxing; ZZ = time spent sleeping; St = time spent in a state of stress; P = time spent packing; Pr = time spent in preparation. Units of measurement are not defined.
Anyway, myth or not it has been spoken about quite a lot since its induction to our world…Although if you are really down, perhaps try some Vitamin D!
