I must admit at first i was shocked about hearing the firing of Calgary Flames bench boss Bob Hartley.
Hartley who was named the Jack Adams Award Winner (coach of the year) in the the 2014//15 campaign is now looking for work as he was relieved of his duties earlier today. Also gone is Assistant Jacques Cloutier.
It’s hard to accept the fact that he is gone mainly because i was a big fan but really when you fail to make the playoffs 3 out of 4 years and finish 12th this last season. It just isn’t where the team wants to be.
As For Calgary Flames GM, Brad Treliving, well he has quite the off season ahead of him and here is a list of things that he has to do:
– Hire a head coach
– Find a damn good goalie (he didn’t do that last year)
– Sign Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau
There is a lot more to do as well but those are obviously the key issues.
As for finding a new coach, well Bruce Boudreau’s name has come up as he was let go by the Ducks, but remember there are other teams looking for coaches too like that of Ottawa and Minnesota.
Bob Hartley, hmmmm don’t be surprised if he lands in Montreal.
all the best to Bob and Jacques….as for the Flames, if we don’t make the playoffs next year is that it for Treliving? time will tell.
