Calgary Stampede parade marshals Paul Brandt and Jann Arden nicknamed themselves PB & J for this Friday’s annual parade.
(The parade features more than 150 western-themed entries, including 30 marching bands, 40 floats, 750 horses and 4,000 people.)
Now, the duo has come up with a genius idea: Bring PB & J to the parade for the Calgary Food Bank!
The singers are asking parade-goers to bring peanut and jam to the route – or to any grocery store during the 10-day event.
Stampede Sneak A Peak is this Thursday night. Stampede officially runs July 8-17.
Paul Brandt posted this to his Facebook page:
Calgary Food Bank caught wind of this “PB&J” thing for me and Jann Arden who are marshaling this year’s Calgary Stampede Parade… and we had an idea.
So we reached out to KRAFT Peanut Butter and Calgary Co-op, who quickly jumped on board with 50 CASES OF PEANUT BUTTER AND JAM (PB&J!).
In addition to this generous donation, we thought it would be cool if people would bring Peanut Butter, Jam/Jelly during the parade and any of the 10 days of Stampede to food bank collection stations (All grocery stores and Center Street Church) as a part of Calgary Food Bank’s annual Put the Boots to Hunger campaign.
Thank for your help in bringing an end to hunger in Calgary.
