When it comes to concussions the NHL has been pretty shady, even going as far as debating withholding a former officials pay to keep him quiet.
The latest example of this comes from the handshakes after the Pittsburgh Penguins eliminated the Ottawa Senators. Earlier in the playoffs, Sidney Crosby went down with a suspected concussion, and in the handshake line Sens captain Erik Karlsson told Crosby that he “hopes he’s healthy”. You can hear that here.
Super classy move by Karlsson, by the way. It’s hard to hate a guy like him.
The NHL though, didn’t like the fact that Karlsson hoping Crosby is healthy could be interpreted as him dealing with concussion problems, and muted him saying that in their official video. Listen to lack of audio around the 1:30 mark.
That’s a pretty shady move there, NHL. Hard to believe that you care about players with concussions when you go and do stuff like this.
