Spring hockey season just wrapped up and, pretty soon, baseball and soccer will be coming to an end, too.
Do you give your kids’ coaches a thank-you note (and gift)?
I don’t think you truly appreciate how much work/effort/stress it can be to coach a team until you’ve coached a team.
Of course, there are always those rare teams where every kid is an angel and every parent rocks. But, even if you do wind up with a team with A+ people and there’s zero drama, the coaches still have to volunteer their time to be at all the practices and games.
This also the time of year when Jeff and I always battle over whether you should give a teacher (or coach) a gift card to a liquor store as a year-end present.
(Jeff says YES).
(I say NO).
I’m also fan of getting your child’s bus driver a present. I know all these costs add up – but a homemade card with a $5 gift card for a coffee speaks volumes. These are the folks, after all, who get our children to and from school safety every day. – Sarah
