Pop-rock singer Pink stole the the show at the VMA Awards Sunday night with her inspiring story about trying to help her six-year-old Willow daughter understand the meaning of beauty and strength.
Pink, 37, shared a story of how her daughter told her, “I’m the ugliest girl I know” and that she thought she looked like “a boy with long hair.”
Pink then told the audience the tale of how she went home and made a PowerPoint presentation of all the cool people she knew who “speak their truth” and “inspire us”:
- Elton John
- Freddie Mercury
- Janis Joplin
- David Bowie
- Annie Lennox …
Pink, her daughter Willow and her husband Carey Hart all wore matching suits to the VMAs. Pink’s acceptance speech also gave a shout-out to androgynous beauties. Who says a gal needs to wear a gown to look hot and gorgeous.
Know who was strutting her stuff in a plaid suit long before Pink and her family?
