Is there anything more delicious in this world than guacamole?
You’re right. There isn’t anything better.
Today (Mon. Nov. 6) is National Nachos Day – but any day is a good day for nachos and other Mexican treats!
My son had the cheese quesadilla, my husband had the steak fajitas and I had the chicken fajitas. I also had a large glass of red wine for only $8, which is a steal considering the cost of a glass of wine in other restaurants.
Another way to celebrate Nachos Day? We just launched Jeff & Sarah’s Mexico Vacation. Your chance to qualify on our show at 6:40 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. for a 7-night all-inclusive vacation in Los Cabos, Mexico at RIU Hotels & Resorts. Caller #7 at 403-264-1073 gets in. You can also qualify with Tarzan Dan in the afternoons and on the weekends, too.
Just for qualifying, you instantly win a $50 gift card to Mucho Burrito – Fresh Mexican Grill.
Native Tongues is one of my absolute favourite restaurants – not just Mexican restaurants, but all-time favourite restaurants.
Native Tongues’ best thing is the chilaquiles: totopos, salsa verde, crema, queso fresco, onion, cilantro. Other than getting them at resorts in Mexico, Native Tongues is the only place I’ve found these delicious nachos in Calgary. (They’re not like nachos you’d make at home covered in cheddar cheese and store salsa.)
I also love Native Tongues because some of their seating is community style. Sitting with strangers is a chance to check out other people’s food up close, eavesdrop on conversations and sometimes chat with other diners.
What’s your favourite spot to get Mexican food in Calgary? I also like hitting the food court at the Crossroads Market to go to Molcajete.
