The Holiday Armadillo, Friends.
Friends, a sitcom that lasted from 1994 to 2004, was about six friends living in New York. It is famous for a lot of things, an unforgettable cast, classic writing and their holiday episodes. The one that is by far the most well known is the Holiday Armadillo.
When Ross, David Schwimmer, wants to get his son excited about Hanukkah he dressed up as the Holiday Armadillo, Santa’s Jewish friend. He goes on to tell his son about the magic of Hanukkah and how it is just as magical as Christmas.
It has been reported that this episode of Friends is writer Marta Kauffman’s favorite as she is also Jewish and wanted to share the holiday with the world.
This episode is a fun and creative take on the classic holiday show.
Moroccan Christmas, The Office
The Office is a mockumentary comedy show that focuses on the lives of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company employees.
This episode shows one of their annual Christmas parties, this year’s theme being Moroccan.
When one of the employees, Meredith, drinks too much and accidentally sets her hair on fire the gang decided to throw together an impromptu intervention. This puts The Office into an uncomfortable situation where no one feels safe to talk or have fun.
Although it appears to have a more serious note this is by far one of the funniest episodes of The Office US, and I highly recommend watching it this Christmas.
How Lilly Stole Christmas, How I met your Mother
How I met your Mother is the 2005-2014 sitcom focusing on five friends living in New York City. (Very different from Friends.)
This episode happens in the second season when Ted, Josh Radnor, calls his best friend’s fiance Lilly, played by Alyson Hannigan, a Christmas “Grinch.”
She retaliates by taking away her Christmas display and getting rid of Christmas cheer all together.
The episode plays a long a similar story line to how the Grinch stole Christmas and has a nice heartwarming message at the end about how the holidays are a time for forgiveness.
It is a heartwarming tale that really shows the meaning of friendship and Christmas.
Women of Questionable Morals, Gilmore Girls
Gilmore Girls will get you into the holiday spirit no matter what episode you watch. This cozy drama follows the lives of mother and daughter duo Lorelei and Rory Gilmore.
This episode in particular shows the holiday spirit going through the small town of Stars Hollow.
When Rory’s grandfather unexpectedly dies she finds herself learning to forgive her father for his past mistakes and goes out of her way to make him feel welcomed during the holiday season.
This episode shows the true meaning of family during the holiday and will give you a very warm feeling after watching it. Just like every episode of Gilmore Girls does.
