Q107: Calgary's Classic Rock Radio - The Morning Show Blog
links to cool stuff

I thought I would end the week with a couple of things that made me smile this week.

First of all, if you didn't see the WalMart commercial that I posted on my last blog...please, check it out for a good laugh.

Now, I've a couple of strange things for you and I'll start with something you wouldn't expect to see on the page of a Classic Rock radio station. But as my pal Maureen Holloway was saying this week, this kind of transcends taste in music.....

You may have seen a YouTube video last year of Phillipine inmates dancing in the prison yard. It was a tribute to Michael Jackson's Thriller....all choreographed. And, it was a visual stunner. Well, they've topped themselves with a new YouTube posting. They've worked with Michael Jackson's dance choreographers that worked with him on his tour that was planned for London last summer. As you know, that never got to London. The tour was canceled due to MJ's untimely death. Never mind if you never liked him or his music. This is great eye candy and kind of lifts the spirit...especially if you watch it all the way to the end: here it is

Next up, something that I absolutely loved that flew under my radar here in Calgary until I read about it in last Sunday's Herald. This is a great story of adventure by a trio of guys trained in the world of food at SAIT. They've toured the world, and created a travel/food series for the web and last week, the guys won an award in San Fransico (great foodie town) for their series and their work. These guys got it going on, having married their passion with making a living. Congratulations to these Calgary trained adventurers. Have a look at their website. If you love to travel and have a liberal set of taste buds,
check this out

And, lastly, a tip for you if you appreciate a good storyteller and a great writer.

My long time friend and broadcast partner of many years, Ted Bird, has left radio (for now) and everyone can now enjoy his writing talent on his new independent blog.
If you love sports, if you appreciate a good story and have a great sense of humour, please check out the site below and laugh and enjoy the talent of my long time witty, caustic, irreverent, honest and car loving pal. If you are a baseball fan, read his latest. May the ol'"webnet" as Ted and I used to call it, create a whole new world and audience for this talented ex-Maritimer... clcik this

I've known Ted for over 20+ years, worked with him for a good chunk of that time and hope that good sense prevails and he ends up back in radio land. In the meantime, you can save the link and get a good laugh or a thought provoker every day. Nicely done, BirdMan....

And don't forget, Patti and I will see you at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino Saturday night, Jan 30th, for Kick Axe and the Queen City Kids.

Have a great weekend...

TD
